Acupuncture for Insomnia

Insomnia includes difficulty falling asleep and problems staying asleep. It can occur during certain life transitions or be a chronic issue. Acupuncture seeks to uncover the root imbalance whether it lies within the mind/heart axis, renal/kidney exhaustion or just the accumulation of day to day worries over time. Acupuncture regulates the autonomic nervous system and can help your body to access a parasympathetic (relaxed) state more often and then in time, more easily.

Acupuncture treatments are often once per week to help establish a proper evening rhythm. A specific protocol will be designed based on the severity and duration of your sleep disturbance. Often lifestyle changes are encouraged as well. As a foundation of sleep is formed acupuncture treatments occur less and less frequently.

Herbal formulas are often prescribed to help reinforce the pattern of the needles. They are taken daily up to 3 times or directly before sleep.
